Residents came in force to oppose a proposed 25-unit balanced housing development on Waltham Street.
The proposal, forwarded by Lexington resident Iqbal Quadir of Bushnell Drive, would allow either 11 subdivisions under a standard, by-right proposal. Alternately, Quadir said he wanted to create a 25-unit balanced housing development which would contain single-bedroom units.
Members of the Planning Board, at their meeting Nov. 2, were concerned with traffic, removal of trees, and the people would be attracted to the units. Residents echoed their concerns.
Based on the proximity of the site to Lexington Center, Lexington High School, and the Hayden Josiah Willard Hayden Recreation Center, Town Meeting member Frank Sandy spoke against Quadir’s hope for the development to be attractive to seniors looking to stay in town.
